It is with a heavy heart that the club has to report the retirement of Ben Neo due to a long-standing knee injury. Having not played for several years it has long been hoped that a glorious comeback was still a possibility, with Neo returning like a messiah to lead the team to the promised land of silverware, however the high chance of a reoccurrence of the injury, and the gruelling rehab involved, has forced Ben to call it a day. Everyone at the club thanks Ben for his efforts on the pitch and in the bar, and hopes that he will stay in touch.

The first round of the League Cup Competitions have also been drawn to be played on the 29th September, with the Reserves travelling to Highmoor Ibis Reserves from Division 3, and the 1st team welcoming regular opponents Marlow Utd, who they have played every season now since both teams entered the league in Division 4 six years ago.
The club will be looking to make strong starts to this season’s campaign, which is the first in which they have attempted to field two sides each Saturday afternoon.
Details of this year’s AFC Corinthians Christmas Party have been released, with the event to be held on Saturday 8th December, from 7.30pm – 1am at the club’s home ground, the Reading Civil Service Sports ground on James Lane, Burghfield.
The Party will be Fancy Dress, with a prize for the best outfit as well as other activities and games, a disco, and the introduction of this year’s Hall of Fame Inductees.
The evening follows the success of last year’s successful event which was a great evening and very well attended. Tickets will be £5 each, and will be on sale from club members in the next few weeks.
At last week’s AGM the roles and responsibilities for the coming year were agreed, as well as events, fees and adaptations to club rules. Peter Charters will Chair the club, with club stalwart Rich Hand stepping in as Vice-Chair, and Matthew Charters continuing as General Secretary and Treasurer.
Ian O’Reilly, Chris Long and Jon Simmons agreed to take on the organisation of Events and Fundraising, and Finbar Mulholland and Andrew Taplin will take responsibility for Marketing. It is hoped that these roles, along with the continued support of all club members will take the club on to the next level in its development.
The new Club Charter was also agreed, which includes player guidelines and conduct for the coming season.
